» Introduction:

Powerful existence of paint, intertwined with abstract elements, can be recognized in the recent works by Keisuke Yamamoto. The viewer can clearly sense the physical act of painting on canvas. What has been painted on the canvas does not only rest as images, but seems to claim its substantial state as material. These relief-like paintings do not limit themselves to the two-dimensional, and let the viewer find what have been concealed by the conventional ideas about paintings. These progress/ change in Yamamoto' works have been made possible by his attempts of "crossing" in producing both paintings and sculptural works.

» Concept:

Yamamoto explains the title of this exhibition "Crossing" as follows; Crossing, within a painting, between the works, and over various elements and states. "In-betweens" during all the crossing. Surface appeared by crossing and cutting. Order and interaction created by connecting and interlacing. These senses of crossing are the important key element in my practice. It is one of the approaches to existence, which is not reproduction of something.
This exhibition will feature new drawings and 12 paintings, where colors and forms interlace and create various stories.
