» 作品紹介

フォトモンタージュ、コラージュの手法を使って生み出されるヴィベケ・タンベルグの写真、映像作品は、一見なじみのあるように思えるイメージのなかに、予定調和的な現実を脱臼させる力を秘めています。アフリカで慈善活動をおこなう白人女性（"Aftermath", 1994）。風になびく美しいブロンドの髪で顔が隠れている女性（"Beautiful", 1999）。階段を上り下りしている老いた男性（"Old Man Going Up and Down a Staircase", 2003）。これらは全て、タンベルグ自身のセルフ・ポートレイトです。そこからみえてくるのは、アイデンティティに関する彼女の問いかけであり、その際のサブジェクトの転置、社会的役割や規範の検証といった試みです。タンベルグの作品においては往々にして作家自身がポートレイトの対象であるために、鑑賞者の傍観者としての安寧なポジションも揺らいできてしまうように思えます。
美的にも洗練されたタンベルグの作品に通底するもう一つの要素は、ユーモアです。2000年の"Jumping Dad"では、タンベルグ自身が父親の洋服を着て両親のベッドで飛び跳ねる、子供のような大人になりました。彼女の作品が常に孕んでいるコミカルさは、シュールリアリズムやダダイズムの作家によって示された、ユーモアがもつ解放的な力を共有しているといえるでしょう。それでいてきわめて冷静なタンベルグの視線は、みえない網のようにはりめぐらされたルールや役割に絡めとられた私たちを解放してくれるかのようです。

» 展覧会について

本展では、イギリスのソウル／R&B歌手、エイミー・ワインハウスのパパラッチによる写真にアクリルや水彩で加筆した"Winehouse Variations"（10点）、同様の写真を装飾的な模様に加工した壁紙"Untitled"（Wallpaper）、展覧会と同タイトルの映像作品"A Real Feeling"の計12点を展示・上映する予定です。
セレブと呼ばれる人物たちの消費のされ方、彼らのもろさ（vulnerability）と威厳の回復などが、これらの作品を通して扱われます。元の写真はタンベルグによって変化し、違う次元のイメージとなりますが、それでいて写っているものの何かがより際立って感じられます。また、上記の"Winehouse Variations"シリーズが収められた限定カタログ『A.W. Abstractions』（発行：Onestar Press）も販売いたします。この機会に是非ご高覧ください。

» 作家プロフィール

ヴィベケ・タンベルグは1967年ノルウェー、オスロ生まれ。1994年にノルウェーのCollege of Fine Artsを卒業、1997年にスウェーデンのUniversity of GotenbergでMFA（写真、映像）を取得しました。現在はオスロを拠点に制作をしています。
主な個展をAstrup Fearnley Museum of Contemporary Art（オスロ、04年）、Norrkoping Art Museum（ノルウェー、09年）、c/o - Atle Gerhardsen（ベルリン、02、05、07、08）、Gagosian Gallery（ロンドン、02年）、Martin Klosterfelde（ベルリン、98、99年）、Yvon Lambert（パリ、98、00、04年）などで開催。作品はNational Museum of Art, Oslo（オスロ）、Guggenheim Museum（ニューヨーク）、New Museum of Contemporary Art（ニューヨーク）など主要美術館にコレクションされています。小山登美夫ギャラリーでは98、00、04年に続き4度目の個展となります。
