1971年アルゼンチン、ブエノス・アイレス生まれ。ブエノス・アイレス大学で美術史を、2000年からはロンドンのゴールドスミス・カレッジで美術を学んだのち、2004年にロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートでペインティングの修士号を取得。現在はロンドンを拠点に制作。
在学中からロンドンのアートシーンで注目され始めたカイヴァーノは、Victoria Miro Gallery（ロンドン、2005）、Galerie Sies + Hoke（デュッセルドルフ、2007）などで個展を開催。またChisenhale Gallery（ロンドン、2007）、美術館ではKunstverein Freiburg（ドイツ、2006）での個展に加え、プラハ・ビエンナーレ（2005）、釜山ビエンナーレ（2008）、 Whitechapel Galleryの「East End Academy: The Painting Edition」に出品しました。小山登美夫ギャラリーでは、2009年に初の個展を行っています。
